I’ve decided that since I’m running so short on time that I won’t draw any new pages and concentrate on finishing the ones I have. However, I’ve been very busy lately getting ready for the Directions career fair this Wednesday, so I didn’t have a whole lot of time to draw. When I did, I spent most of that time doing clean-up on the pencil work to prepare it for inking. Let me say right now that I don’t have much confidence in my inking skills, and I’m really nervous about applying my pens to any subject that isn’t a human. I’m especially anxious about Dana’s drum set with all its hardware, the interior of Willow’s workplace with all the music supplies it carries, and the crowd scenes at the Battle of the Bands.
As of now, only the first three pages have any ink on them, and that adds up to only six panels, but I think those panels are looking pretty good. Here is how these pages currently look, and what I hope the finished panels will look like with text and balloons. You’ll notice that since the early roughs were posted back in Week 4, I’ve altered the characters’ overall appearances to make them look more mature, straightened the panel borders and changed a few compositions. My hope is that once Directions is over with, I will be able to devote more of my time to getting these pages fully inked and move on to the rest. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get every page finished by the deadline, but at the very least I want the pages I can show to look their best.
